Allard P-type Postwar Allard brought out the Allard J1 with a Ford Pilot 3.6-litre V8 engine, although this used to overheat and was down on power. Four-seater Allards were offered as the Allard L-type from 1946-48, and from 1947 to 1950 as the M-type drophead. The P-type was a fixed head coupe on a Wheelbase of 112 inches, the same as the M-type. 559 P1 cars were produced from 1949 to 1951. Bodies for the P1 were built by coachbuilder Hilton Brothers. Sydney Allard drove a P1 FHC to victory on the 1952 Monte Carlo Rally. In commemoration of this victory, a new design of P2 Monte Carlo coupe was unveiled but only 12 were built. Around one dozen 'Woody' estate cars were also built. |
