Alpine A310

Renault oversaw the next Alpine and got Michel Beligond to style it, with Jean Redele to engineer it. Alpine wanted to compete against the Porsche 911T and produced a car to similar dimenstions. The Alpine A310 was launched at the 1971 Geneva Salon, powered by a 1,605cc 125bhp version of Renault 16 TS engine. From April 1973 the A310 was available with the option of fuel injection, as well as a more economical 1,647cc 95bhp model. A V6-engined model was announced in 1976 and given the 2,664cc PRV 150bhp engine. But it wasn't merely an engine transplant, and Robert Opron gave the body a restyle and only four headlamps. From 1981 the Alpine Renault A310 was badged 'Renault Alpine' signifying Renault's take over (in 1974). Production ended in 1984 after 9269 had been made. The Alpine V6 GT replaced it.

Alpine A110. Alpine were the Lotus of France in the 1960s, and whereas Lotus tended to use Ford parts, Alpine tended to use Renault parts. The A110 was built around the Renault R8 from 1961, and initially had an 1108cc engine, but finally in 1976 a 1647cc unit. The A110 was World Rally Champion under Renault ownership in 1973. This particular car was built by FASA in Spain.
