Stoneleigh Cars 'Stoneleigh' was a sub-brand of Siddeley-Deasy (later 'Armstrong-Siddeley') and was launched in 1912 for the sales of commercial vehicles. The first Stoneleigh vehicles were in fact re-badged BSA 13.9hp cars with a new radiator. During the First World War 100 of these Stoneleigh trucks went to Russia. In 1921 Armstrong-Siddeley saw the need to manufacture a light car and gave the name 'Stoneleigh' to this new product launched in 1921. This light car had a 1,010cc vee-twin engine which seems to have derived from a Hotchkiss design (a similiar engine was produced with differences by B.S.A. for its own 3-wheeler cars). Stoneleigh cars did not sell, and Armstrong-Siddeley had ended this brand by 1924. |
