Bentley 4.5-litre
The Bentley 4.5-litre was an evolution of the earlier 3-litre (which continued in parallel production). Using a stronger version of the same 130-inch 3-litre chassis WO Bentley developed a 4,398cc 4-cylinder sohc 4-valve engine which produced 110bhp in standard form, 130bhp for racing, and there was a 175bhp/240bhp supercharged Blower model. Produced from 1927 to 1931, 720 were sold including 55 Blower Bentleys. A Bentley 4.5-litre won the 1928 Le Mans 24 hours, was second and third (to a Bentley Speed Six) in the 1929 Le Mans 24 hours. The Blower Bentley did not win any racers.
