Bristol 406
Bristol built on the 404/405 recipe when it launched the 406 in 1958. This Bristol was larger even though the chassis remained the same. Dudley Hobbs designed the new 406 body. Extra power was given by expanding the 6-cylinder engine to 2216cc, and in this form it was given to the AC Greyhound. The 406 was the last 6-cylinder Bristol as subsequent models carried American V8 engines. 174 Bristol 406 cars were sold, a small number were given special bodies by Beutler and Zagato. Park Royal Vehicles Ltd fabricated the 406 bodies, and continued to build Bristol bodies from 1961 to 1976.
