Buick entered the 1920s firmly in the grasp of General Motors with Walter P. Chrysler having left in 1919 and replaced by Harry H. Bassett under William C. Durant. But 1920 was a bad year for American car sales. The Buick Model 21 had seven variants, and by 1924 were offering both 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder models, but from 1925 the six cylinder engine was the only option. In 1923 Buick passed production of more than one million cars. The Master Six concluded the 1920s and led into the Series 40 and Series 50 cars of the 1930s.
