Introduced in 1959 to top the Buick range, and to replace the Buick Roadmaster. GM produced a new C-body for its larger cars in 1959 with a wheelbase of 126.3inches and given to the Electra, Electra 225, Oldsmobile 98, and all Cadillacs. The 'Electra 225' was so named because the car was 225 inches long, even longer than a Cadillac. Styling was shared with B-body models. Under the bonnet was the 6.6-litre 'Nailhead' V8 engine. The Electra (221 inches long) and Electra 225 could be supplied as 4-door 4-window hardtop, 4-door 6-window sedan. The 225 had a convertible body and a 6-window Riviera hardtop body that was shared with Cadillac. For 1960, in common with other Buicks, the slanted-eyed headlamps were straightened and the wings flattened.

Chevrolet Impala 1959 Sport Sedan. The Sport Sedan was almost a 4-dooor hardtop, and the large wraparound rear window made the Impala very light and roomy in the rear. The Cadillac Sedan DeVille shared this design on a larger body. The Cadillac Series 62 and 'deVille' models sat on a 130 inch wheelbase and measured 225 inches, whereas the Chevrolet Impala was 119 inches between the wheels and 211 inches overall.
