Introduced in 1959 as an entry-level Buick range, and to replace the Buick Special, the Buick LeSabre took on GM's new B-body on a 123-inch wheelbase. Under the bonnet was the 5,965cc V8 engine. In common with all GM cars, new bodies came in 1961, deliberately restrained from the excesses of 1959. Another new body was given in 1965, and again in 1971 and 1977. The 1986 LeSabre went onto the GM H-platform and was front wheel drive. From 1992 the LeSabre was only offered as a 4-door sedan, and this was revised in 2000 and discontinued in 2005.
