Bill Mitchell produced new 129.5-inch GM C-body designs for the 1965 Cadillacs, with the Cadillac Calais model replacing the Series 62 cars. The Calais was offered as a 4-door sedan, or 2-door and 4-door hardtops. The deVille series now had a convertible as well as a 2-door Coupe deVille and two versions of the 4-door Sedan deVille, both a hardtop and a pillared sedan. Headlamps were vertically stacked giving a wider grille, and slab sides were curved with curved glass taking them up into the roof. 1967 Cadillacs had a big redesign with a prominent v-shaped grille and stepped-up waistline, and the deVille models got thicker c-pillars for more privacy. There were new grilles for 1968 and horizontal headlamps for 1969. A new grille for 1970, and the final year for the pillared sedans with only hardtop models now offered.
