Cadillac Coupe deVille and Sedan deVille 1959/60
The 1959 Cadillac is considered the most outrageous of all, and is attributed to a battle to 'out-Chrysler Chrysler' after the 1957 Chryslers showed everyone else up. Designed under the leadership of Chuck Jordan because Harley Earl was absent in Europe during the 1956 gestation period. The 1959 Sedan deVille was offered in two 4-door versions; the 4-window version with wraparound rear window, and the 6-window version with fastback rear window. The Coupe deVille (2-door) had the same fastback roofline as the 6-window Sedan deVille. 53,390 deVilles were sold in 1959, and 53,419 in 1960
