There was a new GM C-body for 1957 and this was built on an X-frame which allowed lower bodywork and provided extra strength. Wheelbase increased from 129 inches to 129.5. Whilst based on the 1957 Cadillac Series 62, the Eldorados were given their own rear end with bulbous boot topped by sharks fin wings. Cadillac had introduced a 2-door hardtop option called the Eldorado Seville in 1956 and the new 1957 model continued this style. A hand-built Series 70 Eldorado Brougham was also offered as a 4-door hardtop with rear-hinged back doors on a 126-inch wheelbase, and it sold 400 in 1957 and 307 in 1958. Cadillacs for 1958 were given quad headlamps.
