Chrysler brought a new model of the Windsor out in 1955, utilising the 'Forward Look' body by Virgil Exner that was given to the entire Chrysler catalogue that year. The Windsor was the entry level model, but still came in a 2-door Nassau hardtop, 4-door sedan, convertible and estate bodies. In 1956 the 4-door Newport hardtop style was added. Launched with the 300 cu. in. 'Spitfire' V8 engine, in 1956 the new larger 331 cu. in 'poly head' engine took over, with the big brother Chrysler 300 and Imperial getting the Hemi V8. There was a restyle for 1956, with changed grille, tail fins and new rear lamps. For 1957 the new winged Windsors took the 'Forward Look' to the edge.
