H J Mulliner
Henry Jervis Mulliner founded his own company in Chiswick in 1897, his father Robert Bouverie Mulliner having established in Liverpool a branch of the family coachbuilding company already based in Northampton and Leamington Spa. By 1900 HJ Mulliner had a good business in London building bespoke car bodies. HJ Mulliner moved to Mayfair in 1906 and were bought out by John Croall & sons of Edinburgh in 1909. By the 1930s almost all bodies built by HJ Mulliner were on Bentley or Rolls-Royce chassis. Rolls-Royce bought out HJ Mulliners in 1959 to form the Mulliner Park Ward Division.
