Thrupp and Maberley
Joseph Thrupp had been building carriages since 1760 and in 1858 merged with George Maberly. The first motorised carriage was produced in 1896. Their new showroom in the West End of London was bought by the Rootes brothers in 1925, but Thrupp and Maberly did remain free to build for many prestigious British and continental brands. By 1967 the business had declined and the company ceased trading.
