The Daimler Motor Syndicate was formed in 1893 to consolidate Frederick Simm's businesses (including boats) that used the Gottleib Daimler engine licence. Henry John Lawson bought out the Daimler Motor Syndicate in 1895 and formed The Daimler Motor Company Limited in 1896. British Daimler gradually grew away from Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft of Cannstatt, but Gottlieb Daimler had also left his own company. In Coventry Daimler succeeded in selling good cars, but the boardroom was more turbulent until the Birmingham Small Arms Company bought out Daimler in 1910.
