Delage D6
Against a background of the Stock Market crash, Delage launched the Delage D6 in 1930, replacing the Delage DM and DR. A six cylinder 3045cc 75bhp engine powered the D6, and the car was sold in 124-inch and 129.5-inch wheelbases. After 1160 were sold, the D6-11 was introduced with the smaller 2001cc 55bhp engine to qualify for the French 11CV (instead of 17 CV) taxation, and this continued until 1934. By 1935 Delage had been bought out by Delahaye, and the D6-80 of 1935 was launched with 3227cc inline six built on a 132-inch Delahaye wheelbase. The 1937 Delage D6-80 shared its 3557cc engine with a Delahaye. The smaller D6 was revisited with the D6-70 built from 1937-8 with a 2729cc six cylinder engine. For 1939 the D6-75 evolved from the D6-70 with 2798cc 95bhp engine, but WWII halted production. A D6 3-litre rekindled the Delage name in 1946, with a 2984cc engine, and the Delage name trundled along under Delahaye ownership until 1954, and in 1955 even Delahaye was in trouble and folded under the wings of Hotchkiss.
