Delahaye Type 135
Launched in 1935, the Delahaye Type 135 was designed by Jean Francois. A 3227cc inline six engine was derived from a Delahaye truck engine but tuned to give 95 to 110 bhp. Standard wheelbase was 116 inches, but a longer Type 138 had a 124 inch wheelbase. Competition variants of the Type 135 won the 'Coupe des Alpes', the Ulster Tourist Trophy and second and third on the 1936 Mille Miglia, as well as winning the 1938 24 heures du Mans (coming 2nd and 4th as well). Delahaye 135s also won Concours prizes with coachwork by Figoni et Falaschi, Saoutchik, Chapron and others. Delahaye announced a 3557cc version as the Type 135M and was offered with a detuned engine on a longer wheelbase as the Type 148. A 4-cylinder version was announced as the 2151cc Type 134N and with a 2371cc engine as the Type 134G in 1945-46. Production was halted in 1940 following the German invasion, and when production resumed in 1945 the Type 135M and larger 175, 178 and 180 were offered until 1954.
