Giorgetto Giugiaro
Giorgetto Giugiaro worked for the Bertone studiod during the late 1950s, one of his earliest works being the Alfa Romeo 2000 Sprint and related Giulia Sprint models. Other Alfa Romeo designs followed until Giugiaro went across to Ghia in 1965 where showed the De Tomaso Mangusta and the Maserati Ghibli. In 1968 Giugiaro set up his own ItalDesign and got early commissions from Volkswagen as they rolled out new model lines with front wheel drive. Lotus supported Giugiaro with a design study which went into production as the Lotus Esprit and then Alfa Romeo came calling, and Maserati and De Lorean and Fiat, Seat, and some Eastern manufacturers.
