Bob Gregoire Eugene 'Bob' Gregoire was hired by General Motors in 1929, but after meeting Edsel Ford took employment there from 1932. His work includes the 1936 Lincoln Zephyr and the Lincoln Continental of 1939. But he also did more humble work, tasked with producing a Ford for the European markets, he created the Ford Y-type, and this in turned influenced the Model 40 Ford V8 of 1934. After the War Ford held internal competitions for the design of the all new 1949 Ford, Gregoire's team losing out to a proposal by George Walker's team (a proposal based strongly on outsider Dick Caleal's design). Gregoire resigned in December 1946 and did not design any more cars. |
