Designer: Roy Brown
Roy Brown was born in Canada and worked for Ford in Dearborn. Roy A. Brown, Jr had penned the 1955 Lincoln 'Futura' show car, then famously created the 1958-60 Edsel. The car was a spectacular failure and Brown was exiled to Dagenham as a punishment. In England Roy Brown created the much less extravagant Ford Cortina Mk1. Later Roy Brown oversaw the design of the Ford Zephyr-Zodiac MkIII range, taking a design exercise commissioned from Frua and changing most of it forward of the boot. After the Zephyr Brown was allowed to return to America and designed Ford's Econoline Van and Thunderbird.

Edsel Ranger 2-door hardtop 1958. The Edsel was designed by Roy Brown, and from just about every aspect was controversial and unliked. Only 66,000 of the projected 200,000 cars were sold in 1958.
