Oliver Winterbottom
Oliver Winterbottom was responsible for the new Lotus Elite, the Type 75 which debuted in 1974, and also the Type 76 Lotus Eclat and evolution of the Elite launched as the Lotus Eclat in 1976. The Eclat evolved into the 1982 Lotus Excel but this was the work of Peter Stevens. Winterbottom moved onto TVR and penned the rather controversial wedge TVR Tasmin which was launched in 1980. Leaving TVR and returning to Lotus, Winterbottom created a wedge-shaped two- seater open sports car the M90, this was intended to become the new Lotus Elan. However the Winterbottom design was stillborn, lost in the turmoil of Lotus finances following the death of Colin Chapman and a new M100 project by Peter stevens became the new Elan.
