Dodge Coronet 1968-70
Chrysler gave its B-body cars a new body in 1968 for the Dodge Coronet, Dodge Charger, Plymouth Belvedere, Plymouth GTX, Plymouth Road Runner, and Plymouth Satellite. Richard Sias and Harvey J. Winn designed for Dodge under Elwood P. Engel. A wheelbase of 116-inches was given to the Plymouths, and 117-inches for the Dodge. Engines started with the lowly 3.7-litre slant 6 in the base models. Performance versions started at the 383 Magnum 6.3-litre also used by Jensen and Bristol, and then a 426 7-litre Hemi V8 and a 440 7.2-litre Magnum. The Dodge Coronet was offered in 5 levels of trim with Coronet R/T (Road and Track) at the top of the range, but there was also a Coronet Super Bee performance version matched to the equivalent Plymouth Road Runner.
