Dodge introduced the D29 Wayfarer in 1949 as its entry level model built on a 115-inch wheelbase (123.5-inch for Meadowbrook and Coronet models). Designed by A.B. 'Buzz' Grisinger, John Chika, and Herb Weissinger (who later went to Kaiser-Frazer). All new bodies were given but were late for the 1949 launch and older cars had to stop-gap. The business coupe shared some bodywork with the Plymouth business coupe. The coupe models had lift-out plastic side windows rather than wind-down windows. All Wayfarers were 2-doors. The D33 Wayfarers for 1950 were revised, as were the D41 for 1951 and 1952. Engine power was from a 3,773cc L-head six.
