For 1969 Dodge launched the Swinger as a low price model available only as a two door hardtop which could supplied with the inline sixes or the V8s 273 or 318. More significantly a 5,563cc (340) Dart Swinger 340 was also offered as a cheaper alternative to the Dart GTS. Styling tweaks were given to the 1970 Dart, and in 1971 Chrysler added a new Dodge Demon on a 108-inch wheelbase with a lowly six cylinder engine or in Demon 340 guise powered by a 275bhp 340 V8; The 'Demon Sizzler' added a styling package to the Demon 340 spec. The Demon gradually took over from the Swinge
