The Edsel brand was launched with the 'Ranger' and the 'Pacer' being the low price options, and the Pacer being just more plush than the Ranger. The Pacer and Ranger shared their 118-inch wheelbase with the Ford Fairlane; bodies were also shared amongst the three. The Pacer was priced higher than the Ranger for essentially the same car. The Edsel Pacer could be purchased as a 2 or 4-door sedan, 2 or 4-door Hardtop, convertible, and there were also Bermuda station wagon models 6 or 9 passenger formats. Power units offered started with the 5,436cc (332) V8 or the 5,911cc (361) V8. Ford culled the 'Pacer' name for the 1959 model year, and went down to the Ranger name.
