Jean Daninos gained from his Bentley Cresta and the Ford Vedette Coupe, and launched his first Facel Vega with a Chrysler V8 engine in 1954. The Facel Vega FV1 was launched in 1954 with a body designed by Jean Daninos, and a chassis engineered by Lance Macklin. The Facel II was launched in 1962, again designed by Daninos, and now powered by a Chrysler Typhoon 6,277cc V8. The body was built on a 124.8-inch chassis and now needed the power of the 355hp engine to move its heft, but was only sold as a 2-door coupe. When Facel Vega collapsed in 1964 just 180 Facel II had been built.
