Ferrari 365 The name '365' was chosen for the new 4390cc Ferraris because each cylinder of the V12 engine was 365cc. This 4.3-litre version of the Colombo V12 engine was first used in the rare Ferrari 365 California sold in low numbers to VIP customers in 1966. In 1967 a larger production run (800 sold) of the Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 began, providing a roomier practical car for those who didn't want a racing car. A couple of 2-seater variants then followed; the 365 GTC and the 365 GTS. But the 'star' of the 365 models was the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 usually known as the 'Daytona' launched at Paris in 1968. Further evolution led to the 365 GTC/4 in 1971, and its replacement the 365 GT4 2+2 in 1972. In 1971 the final 365 model was launched, with the 4390cc engine now in a flat-12 and mounted in the rear of the Ferrari 365 GT4 Berlinetta Boxer. |
