Mario Boano designed the Fiat 1300 at Centro Stile, and it sold in Europe from 1961 to 1967. Conventional front engine rear wheel drive, the car was offered as the 1300 with 1,295cc 65bhp engine, or as the 1500 with 1,481cc 72bhp engine. Front disc brakes were given to the car and alloy rear drums. Pininfarina created a Coupe and a Cabriolet version, but these were unchanged from the earlier 1200 models. From 1964 the Fiat 1500 was lengthened by 3-inches and the engine uprated to 75bhp. In Yugoslavia the model was sold as the Zastava 1300 and 1500 (also called 'Tristac' which means 300) and continued in production until 1979. The Zastava 1300E and 1500E were better equipped versions and had four wheel discs.
