In 1965 Fiat supplemented the 850 saloon with the Fiat 850 spider designed by Giugiaro and built by Bertone, and the Fiat 850 Coupe designed at Fiat under Boano. Both the Coupe and Spider shared the 843cc mechanics of the 850 saloon, but the engines were tuned to 47bhp. Cars were revised in 1968 with a larger 903cc 52bhp engine and changed lamps on both spider and coupe. There was a series 3 Sport Coupe with changed lamps in 1971 but this was quickly replaced by the Fiat 127 coupe in 1971.380,000 Coupes and Spiders were sold.
