Ford Zephyr 4 (211E), Zephyr 6 and Zodiac MkIII (213E) In 1962 Ford transferred the 'Consul' name to the Classic, Cortina and the Corsair, and decided to call the new 4-cylinder car the 'Zephyr 4'. Underneath the mechanics and chassis of the Consul MkII continued, wrapped in bodywork by Roy Brown some of which was based on a styling exercise by Frua. The existing Zephyr was given the same new body, but kept the inline six engine, and the Zodiac MkIII was given a six-light version of the new body. Abbott provided Estates, as before, but no Convertibles were officially made. |
