The 1966 Fairlane went onto a 116-inch wheelbase, and adopted the styling which had been given to Galaxies in 1965; this had vertically stacked quad lamps. Two new option packages were introduced, the first was the 500 XL luxury pack, and the second was the GT and GT/A packs which gave hot engines. The GT pack was only offered on the coupe and the convertible, but sold just 58,000 in two years. 1966 GTs had the 390 V8, but 1967 could have the 289, or any V8 excepting the 427. A longer Fairlane was introduced for 1968.
