Frazer-Nash LeMans Replica
Launched at the 1948 Earls Court Motor Show, the 'High Speed' or 'Competition' model was a new model for Frazer-Nash and one of the first to dispense with the famous FN chain drive. In fact the car was very much an evolution of the pre-war BMW 328 since FN had marketed the BMW cars in Britain during the 1930s and post-war had acquired the rights to their technology. At the end of the war the BMW 2-litre engine went to Bristol and with it BMW's designer Fritz Fiedler; Frazer-Nash were sufficiently connected with Bristol Motors to get a supply of the engines. The Frazer-Nash High Speed finished in 3rd place at the 1949 Le Mans 24 Hour race and after that the 30-odd production cars were known as 'Le Mans Replica'. FN Replicas also won the 1951 Targa Florio and won the 1952 Sebring 12 hours. The first FN Le Mans cars had a 1971cc tuned to 110bhp, whereas the MkII gave 132bhp. Rules changed in sports racing and cycle wings were prohibited, so all enveloping bodies were developed for 1955, the Frazer-Nash version being the Mille Miglia.

Production ended when regulations prohibited cycle wings in production sports car races.
