Goggomobil T250
Launched in 1954, the Goggomobil T250 went on sale in 1955 with a 245cc air-cooled 2-stroke engine in the tail. Hans Glas GmbH produced the T250 after commencing Scooter production in 1951 as a diversification of the tradition businesses of farm machinery and sowing machines. Early models had sliding windows and rear-hinged suicide doors, but front-hinged doors were fitted from 1964 and wind-up windows came in 1957 as part of improving spec. Larger 298cc and 40cc engines were offered from 1957 and at the same time a TS Coupe model. A Goggomobil TL Van was also made, chiefly for the German Postal service. The name derives the nickname given to Hans Glas' son. B.M.W. took over Hans Glas in 1967 after the microcar producer over reached itself with much larger and more sophisticated cars, including the Glas 2600 V8. Production ended in 1969 with nearly 250,000 microcars having been made.
