Hudson launched a Hudson Six in 1914 and dropped all the 4-cylinder cars in 1915. 1916 models included the Series G and Series H Sixes, and for 1917 it was just the Series J Super Six that was sold. The Hudson Super-Six had a 4,736cc (289) straight six 76bhp sidevalve engine with twin spark plugs per cylinder in an L-head. The engine had 4 bearings, but 8 counterweights to give it smooth rotation. The Super-Six was first introduced in 1916 and established a record in long distance trial events for reliability. The Super-Six chassis had a 125.5-inch wheelbase. For 1927 a new 4,728cc F-head inline six engine was developed, and the wheelbase increased to 127.7-inches for the Model O, or 118-inches for the Model S
