Jaguar MkX, 420G
Launched in 1961, the MkX replaced the MkVII, MkVIII and MkIX range. It was given the 3,781cc XK 6-cylinder engine from the E-type along with an independent rear suspension based on the E-type design. The engine was enlarged to 4,235cc in 1964 and remained in the car until it was replaced by the Jaguar XJ range. The engine and an extended version of the 420G chassis formed the basis of the Daimler DS420 Limousine produced from 1968-92. In 1966 Jaguar updated the MkX and renamed it as the '420G' until production ceased. in 1970. Almost 24,000 MkX and 420G cars were sold.
