Lagonda 2-6litre and 3-litre
When David Brown bought out Lagonda in 1947 he acquired the WO Bentley-designed 2.6litre dohc 6-cylinder engine which became the basis of Aston Martin products until the late 1960s. Bentley had also designed a new chassis with independent suspension front and rear; Bentley didn't stay with the company. The Lagonda 2.6litre was launched in 1948 built on a separate chassis with 4-door coachwork designed by Frank Feeley. In 1949 a Tickford-built 2-door drophead coupe was also offered, Power was increased in 1952, and after 510 copies sold the 3-litre replacement was announced in 1953. The 3-litre had a drophead coupe body, a fixed head coupe, and a 4-door saloon, all by Tickford which David Brown acquired in 1955. 270 Lagonda 3-litres were made from 1953 until 1958.
