Lancia Aurelia Spider
The Aurelia was launched in 1950 and had the first ever production V6 engine. B10 Aurelias had a 1754cc V6, B20 a 1991cc V6, and later there was 2451cc V6. Francesco De Virgilio did the V6 engine with Vittorio Jano the chassis. Series IV cars were given De Dion rear suspension and there were changes to the engine. At the same time the B24 Spider was announced, built on a much shorter coupe chassis. This Spider gave way to a more conventional Aurelia convertible based on the Series V Aurelia and having a more practical body style. Aurelias were replaced by the Lancia Flaminia after 1956, which took the engineering even further.

Lancia Aurelia B24 Convertible 1956. The open B24 Spider was only available during 1954 and 1955, having a wraparound windscreen and poor weather protection. From 1956-58 the B24 Convertible was offered instead, also designed by Carozzeria Pininfarina. This was a much more practical design with wind-down door windows and a taller windscreen; the interior was more comfortable too.
