Lotus MkVIII, MkIX, MkX
The Lotus MkX (Ten) originated in the Lotus MkVIII of 1955, which was the first Lotus with an aerodynamic body. The body design was by Frank Costin. At this time Lotus bodies were usually built by Williams and Pritchard . The MkVIII was produced in 1954/55 and just 7 were made. The MkVIII was usually given an MG 1500 engine, and a development of this was the MkIX designed for 1,100cc engines; 30 sold. The last development was the MkX which sold 6 copies and was powered by the Bristol 1,971cc engine.
