The first Marcos Mantis was a one-ff Le Mans prototype racer, the Mantis XP. This was a mid-engined car powered by a Repco V8 engine with a plywood chassis; it only took part in a single race at Spa Francochamps. The Mantis M70 was launched in 1970 as 4-seater GT car powered by the Triumph TR6 2,500 injected engine. However, the Mantis M70 was the wrong car at the wrong time, and the company was already under financial strain and folded in 1972.
