Maserati A6G/CM, A6G/CS Maserati had introduced the A6GCS as a sports racing car in 1953 with a twin cam 2-litre engine. This engine was an evolution of the 6-cylinder 1.5-litre A6 unit developed by the Maserati brothers left to form O.S.C.A. at the end of their ten year agreement with the Orsi brothers. By 1951 this engine had been enlarged to 2-litres, but it was recruitment of Gioacchino Colombo from Ferrari in 1952 that made possible the dohc 100 bhp version of the engine. This was first given to the A6G/CM monoposto racer, and then from 1953 to 1955 to the A6G/CS sports racing car of which 52 were built. The A6C/2000 was a road-going version of this car. |
