Mercury Marauder

In 1958 the name 'Marauder' was given to the new Ford 383 MEL 6.3-litre engine when fitted to to the Mercury Montclair or Mercury Colony Park, and in 430 V8 format as the Super Marauder. For 1960 any Mercury model could be ordered with the 383 or 430 Marauder V8 engines. The first Marauder car was launched midway through the 1963 model year as a 2-door fastback coupe for the Mercury Monterey and Montclair, and in 1964 a fastback 4-door coupe was added. The 'S-55' option replaced the Marauder for 1965. However the Marauder name was dusted off for 1969 and given to a 2-door hardtop version of the Mercury Marquis. But this Marquis only lasted a year and then the 'Marquis' badge was left on the shelf until 2002.

Mercury Marauder 1964. 'Marauder' had been used for an engine option from 1958, but for 1964 a new 2-door fastback Marauder coupe was offered with a Ford 390 (6.4-litre), Ford 406 (6.7-litre) and Ford 427 (7.0-litre) Thunderbird V8s.
