MG MGB GT V8 and MG RV8
Having failed to create an Austin-Healey 3000 with the MG MGC, MG tried again with the V8 versions of the MGB GT, launched unfortunately just as the fuel crisis hit the world, and then killed off by British Leyland who saw the MG V8 as a competitor to Triumph models. But in 1992 British Leyland dusted off some MGB shells, filled them with Rover V8 engines and a bit of modernisation and rekindled the MG name with the MG RV8.

MG RV8. In production from 1992 to 1993, the RV8 sold 1982 copies of which 1500 went to Japan.

MG RV8. In 1988 British Motor Heritage started remanufacturing MGB bodyshells, and it was this product that was adapted to become the RV8 with some re-styling and a new power unit.

MG MGB GT V8. It looks just like an MG! One of the criticisms made of the MGV8, owners paid a premium for the 8 cylinders, but had little to show for this in their car.
