Morris Oxfords Series II Traveller BMC designed the replacement Morris Oxford (Series II) for 1954, giving it the new B-series engine and a monocoque body. Although Issigonis had moved to Alvis, it is likely the Oxford body was his work. A 2-door Traveller (Estate) model was available and is believed to have been the work of Gerald Palmer
. In 1956 the Series was launched with a revised body sprouting wings and a new bonnet, and several changes to specification. Six cylinder variants of these Oxfords were produced as Morris Isis Series I and II. In 1957 the timber-framed Traveller estate car was replaced by a steel-bodied estate called the Oxford Series IV. |
