Elwood Engel was able to give Chrysler new designs for 1965, as well as a new model to take over as the top Belvedere; the Fury. For the now demoted Belvederes it was mainly the front which was changed, and aft of the windscreen remained with some tucks and tweaks. Belvederes kept the 116-inch wheelbase, but lengths dropped 3-inches in 1965 and three more in 1966. The cheaper Belvedere I was sold as 2-door and 4-door sedans and station wagon, the better trimmed Belvedere II also had a 9-passenger estate, a convertible and a 2-door hardtop.
