For 1939 Plymouth revised its models, taking them from 112-inches to 114-inches and giving them new panels that were shared with the rest of the Chrysler products. However, underneath the P8 the cars were mechanically the same and were powered by the same 201 (3,298cc) flat head six cylinder engine as before. The P7 Road King was an entry level model with cut down trim and equipment, sold as 2-door or 4-door sedans, 2-door or 4-door Touring Sedans (with external boot extension) and a Business Coupe. The P8 was the Deluxe model also offered as a Rumble Seat coupe, both a 2-door and a 4-door convertible, a station wagon and a 7-seater limousine on an extended wheelbase. The P8s were styled under Raymond Dietrich although he left Chrysler before the cars launched.
