Reliant Rebel The Reliant Rebel was effectively a four wheel Regal 3/25, and perhaps it ought to have been called '4/25' (or even '4/27'). Unveiled at the 1964 Earls Court Motor Show, the Rebel featured a 600cc engine uprated to 27bhp, new coil spring front suspension with rack and pinion steering from the Standard 10, and a new fibreglass body by Ogle Design mounted onto a steel box section chassis. It was available as a 2-door saloon or as a 3-door estate. In 1967, along with the Regal 3/30 the engine was uprated to 700cc and 30bhp and then 750cc and 31bhp in 1972. Rebel production ended in 1974 after 3,500 had been made, and the new Robin-based Kitten took over |
