The F4 (' fourgonnette') was launched in 1961. In 1967 it was revised with new full width grille and 4-speed gearbox in common with the R4 car. In 1970 it was made 12 volts and in 1974 the grille was changed. A longer F4 was launched in 1975 and this would be badged 'F6' from 1977 but was discontinued in 1985 whilst the F4 carried onto until 1988 (1993 in some countries).

Renault 4 FG Van - badge on rear door. The Fourgonnette version of the Renault 4 was announced at the 1961 Paris Motorshow. In 1976 a longer Van version was announced with more powerful engine and this was designated the 'F6' (for 6CV), whilst the shorter regular van was branded as 'F4'
