Riley 16/4, 'Big Four', 'Blue Streak'
Riley introduced the 16/4 in 1937, a model that came just too late to save it from falling into the arms of the Nuffield Organisation. The new 2443cc 4-cylinder engine had a twin cam design and was rated at 16hp although 80bhp was more likely. Various bodies were fitted and the car was developed by Nuffield into a new model for 1940. The War delayed that launch and further development saw the car evolve in 1945 as the Riley RMB , the larger engined sibling to the Riley RMA.
