Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I
John Blatchley did the design for the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and Bentley T in about 1954, but his design was rejected as being too radical. Ten years of reworking saw this design launched to follow his Silver Cloud/S-type models. The Silver Shadow was launched in 1965 with the 6230cc V8 engine carried over from the Silver Cloud. However, the chassis was not carried over and the Shadow was the first Rolls-Royce monocoque body. In 1969 the engine was uprated to 6750cc, and in 1976 the similar Shadow II replaced the MkI.
