Sunbeam Twenty, 20.9, 23.8
The Sunbeam Twenty was introduced in 1927 and was given a 3-litre (2916cc) ohv six cylinder engine rated at 20.9hp. Many body styles were available including Weymann saloons and a long wheelbase chassis. 2560 20.9 Sunbeams were produced. In 1930 a new 3317cc ohv 23.8hp engine was given to the Sunbeam Twenty and production continued until 1933 with 752 being sold. After this engine upgrade there still 3-litre engines left in 1932 so a new Speed 20 model was created utilising the 2,916cc engine tuned to give 72bhp. A new Sunbeam 20 was introduced for 1934 based on the 1933 Sunbeam 16 and using its 19hp 2193cc ohv engine, but this was upgraded to a 2762cc 20hp unit for 1935 before Sunbeam was taken over by Rootes.
